Another garden beauty, which really affords peoples’ attention is Pieris, ‘Flaming Silver’ being a beautiful compact variegated variety. New growth is bright red, with older green leaves displaying eye-catching white margins whilst small bell-like flowers are born in spring, forming miniature fountains of flower.

There are a number of plants actually bearing the name “Fireworks” with Solidago being one of the best. Sprays of tiny bright yellow blooms persist through to autumn and were always present in my grandmother’s Charlton Kings garden. A Hosta with sparkling white green edged twisted leaves and Clematis with purple and bright cerise petals, like the brightest of sparks, also share this moniker, along with Begonia ‘Fireworks’ taking you indoors with its giant metallic starburst-patterned foliage and available from the delightful ‘Dibleys Houseplants’.

Finally, for the perfect pyrotechnic plant partnership, head to Webbs of Wychbold this November, back for the second year with two evenings of spectacular fireworks on Friday November 6th and Saturday November 7th. Also featuring food stalls, fairground rides and live entertainment, why not arrive early and spend an hour or two filling your trolley with botanical garden centre treats before heading outside to enjoy their bonfire night bonanza? (Garden Centre open until 5.30pm with staggered fireworks entry timeslots at 5.30pm, 5.45pm, 6pm and 6.15pm, ahead of the 7pm displays. Visit Webbs online to book).

May your gardens and night skies be filled with jewels of joy!

Catch Camilla alongside Alan Titchmarsh on ITV’s ‘Love Your Weekend’ on the 8th and 29th of this month and regularly throughout the year.
