THE MERRY VIKING Chr istmas is indeed another one of these obsessions. Clive LOV ES the festive season, turning as much as he is able into a display of seasonal vibrancy. A Christmas Model V illage complete with train track is being erected in the library of the house and some of his collection of 350 nutcrackers will be on full display in the Mead Hall.
What a spectacular sight for those attending his first ever Chr istmas Mark et at the proper ty this year.
music industry, he is none-the-less creative but was look ing for other avenues through which to share his passions and that required space.

SHOULDN’T EVERYONE HAVE A MEAD HALL? In 2022 he and long-time par tner Sian purchased a dramatic mansion house in a small village 3 miles outside Hereford. Historically one of three large homes built by the Godwin family, owners of the long depleted local brick and tile work s, it has some wonder ful architectural features and several floor s laid with the intr icate and distinctive original tiles of their maker s. The entrance gate pilla r s are par ticular ly fanciful. Between its var ious ex ternal buildings in the two-acre grounds, it also had a swimming pool. “I decided that a Mead Hall would be used far more than a cold outdoor pool” mused Clive,
true to his V ik ing
preoccupation. So he built a wonder ful timbered and vaulted per formance venue in its place, adorned with V ik ing horns, pelts, swords, shields and other theatr ical paraphernalia. Here he holds concer ts and events, gather ing colleagues and audiences for professional musical occasions, oh, and sometimes a Zombie weekend!
While the house itself is a work in progress, he has also developed a beautifully crafted courtyard of chalet style sheds, useful for serving food and drink or for outdoor per formers and even traders to enter tain in all weathers.
Sian and Clive are each other ’s Ying and Yang; they met at univer sity and Sian became a teacher in Maths and Computer Science, also training in dyslexia and learning support. She has supported, believed in, and encouraged Clive
throughout his creative obsessions.
