Families attending the British Airways Engineering Family Open Day at Heathrow were treated to a rare aviation experience, thanks to Pendrich Height Services – part of Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG). Pendrich, specialists in working at height for over 55 years, brought along their Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) to give visitors a unique lift – quite literally – inside the British Airways aircraft hangar.

“It was a brilliant day with queues from start to finish,” said Hasnain Naveed, Regional Business Development Manager at Pendrich. “People of all ages were excited to go up in the MEWP and get an unforgettable view of the planes – even BA’s own cabin crew joined in!”

777 and A320neo, there were a total of 55 stands plus live exhibits from BA Engineering and the wider BA business, supported by more than 140 colleagues and 60 volunteers. External suppliers and delivery partners brought another 27 stands, supported by more than 100 staff.

The MEWP offered a controlled platform from which visitors could gain a new appreciation for the scale and engineering complexity of the aircraft below. Pendrich’s involvement also highlighted their ongoing collaboration with British Airways and Heathrow Airport, where they’ve delivered inspection, repair, and maintenance projects across some of the UK’s most complex and high-profile aviation facilities.

The event, designed to engage families with STEM careers and aviation engineering, gave attendees the chance to experience height work in a secure and thrilling way. It was held over the course of 31st May and 1st and 2nd June. 8,702 British Airways people, their friends and their families attended over the weekend. As well as Concorde, a live

Hasnain added: “Events like this show how working at height isn’t just essential – it can be inspiring. Watching families light up as they rose into the air reminded us how powerful our industry can be in sparking curiosity and future careers.” Pendrich continues to support major landmarks and projects throughout the UK – from Blackpool Tower to Oxford Street – delivering safe, specialist access and maintenance solutions as part of PTSG’s nationwide operations.
