“William Parker at Alberta College of Art was helpful during my realism phase; however, the artwork of the Group of Seven pushed me to try other ways to interpret the landscape. Spending time at the AGO and the McMichael Gallery allowed me to get up close and personal with their work.” “The works of Harris and studying them in detail helped hone the
direction I wanted to take with my art. I was getting bored with realism as this has been my go-to style for decades and I wanted to move beyond that to something else. Defining this something took a while, and now as I create my minimalistic landscapes, with bold colours and stylized trees, I feel I have finally found my stride.” “When I am not painting, I am out foraging for wild mushrooms
and plants in the forest that surrounds my home. My pooch keeps me company unless she is out on the boat with my hubby who enjoys fishing. Seeing my grandchildren is another thing I truly enjoy at this time in my life and I visit with them and my grown children as often as I can.”
“My advice would to others would be two words - Keep Painting.
If I listened to all the nay-sayers over all the years, I would have quit a long time ago.”
