avantia is a leader and international reference in the docking, repair, upgrade, conversion and modernisation of LNG vessels, large cruise ships, megayachts and superyachts. These represent its three highly specialised core business lines, although it also provides repairs to all types of commercial vessels and military naval units.
Navantia Shiprepairs is a business division of Navantia SA, a state-owned company under the Spanish Ministry of Finance and Public Function. It operates three strategically located ship-repair centres in Spain – Ferrol Estuary (NW), Cádiz Bay (SW) and Cartagena (SE). The proximity of these facilities to some of the world’s busiest sea trade routes is a major advantage. In the
UK, the company has further expanded its reach through Navantia UK, which provides additional dry docks, berths and skilled staff at the Harland & Wolff shipyards in Belfast and Appledore. But its strongest competitive advantage lies in its workforce: a highly skilled team of staff and approved contractors, whose professionalism and commitment underpin a world-class service offering.
Global leader in cruise ship docking and revitalisation Navantia Shiprepairs carries out most of its cruise ship projects at its Cádiz Shipyard, supported by the nearby facilities in San Fernando and Puerto Real. Since entering the specialised
cruise repair market in 2011, the company has seen steady growth in project volume and technical scope. In recent years, Navantia has become the world’s most active cruise ship repairer, with 14 projects in 2022, 13 in 2023 and 18 in 2024. These include vessels from leading international cruise lines that return year after year for major repair and modernisation work. So far in 2025, the trend has continued, with seven large cruise ships already serviced in Cádiz in the first six months alone. A further five projects are confirmed for the rest of the year.
