Our Silver City, 2094 20 November– 18 April 2022 Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham
This exhibition creates a speculative fiction of a future world – Nottingham, 2094 – shaped by decades of climate collapse and other onslaughts. Its world-building follows a framework created by Prem Krishnamurthy, its texture built from conversations with local children, climate scientists and geographers.

3 Pablo Bronstein: Hell in its Heyday 6 October–2 January 2022 Sir John Soane’s Museum, London
Artist Pablo Bronstein presents large-scale watercolours and a film depicting a ‘hellish’ city of concert halls, casinos, botanical gardens and oil rigs. Taking inspiration from the commedia dell’arte, early advertising and 18th century interiors, the works offer an ironic twist on narratives of progress.

DESIGN Canberra Festival 8–21 November Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
The eighth edition of DESIGN Canberra coincides with the golden anniversary of its organiser Craft ACT, so its 2021 theme of ‘transformation’ takes inspiration from the alchemical. Translated to design, it acknowledges the designer’s ability to make wonders out of raw materials and to inspire change.

5 Farmer Designers: An Art of Living 14 July–17 January 2022 MADD Bordeaux, France
This exhibition approaches farming with a design lens, considering the ‘farmer-researcher’, always experimenting with new practices, as a designer. It looks at the specificity of farming’s context tools and actions, and how these practices – like design – are able to shape contemporary life.
