Taylor Lane Timber Frame has invested in a new fully automated cutting machine from Hundegger as part of a strategic investment programme.
The Hundegger TURBO-Drive II (TD II) – the second commissioned by Taylor Lane – is designed to cut roof truss components and engineered wood products. The new linear saw will improve efficiency in the company’s dedicated truss and joist factory, reducing cutting times for entire floor kits by around 50%, with reduced labour and manual handling.
AAG introduces small-format AXYZ Innovator router
CNC routing/cutting systems supplier, AAG has introduced the new small-format AXYZ Innovator machine. It replaces the Z-Series of machines and provides an enhanced performance-to-cost capability founded on new and improved design characteristics.
The Innovator incorporates many of the design features and performance capabilities of much larger AXYZ machines but at a commensurately lower cost. Based on the traditional solid steel frame construction for increased rigidity, aluminium t-slot processing bed and vacuum material clamping deck, the Innovator is available in two standard sizes (1.2 x 1.2m and 1.5 x 2.4m). The router features, as standard, a premium rack and pinion drive system with integrated servomotors and the AXYZ A2MC machine control system for faster and smoother machine operation. The machine also comes packaged with dedicated design and production software.

“We believe that despite the challenges affecting the building industry, now is the time to invest and develop our capability and services,” said Jon Lane of Taylor Lane Timber Frame. “We have been fortunate to complete several large and prestigious contracts in recent years, each with individual requirements and targets. “To meet these demands we strengthened our proposition, developing new and innovative solutions including our Therma Line 115 Closed Panel System. The new TD II allows us to extend our offering further still, for example, cutting holes in floor joists for duct runs and milling and routing for glulam structures.”
With the addition of optional extras, the Hundegger machine also transforms into a fully automated woodworking centre with drilling and milling capabilities. Synchronisation with Taylor Lane’s internal drawing office and real-time performance reports boost accuracy and productivity while the history log and error notifications help minimise downtime and aid diagnostics via remote access.

Hubtex launches new sideloader

Hubtex has launched a fully automated electric multi-directional sideloader for handling long, heavy and bulky goods – the PhoeniX AGV.
The basic model of the new PhoeniX electric multi-directional sideloader was designed by Hubtex for step-by-step automation utilising full electric steering, enabling longer operating times due to its lower energy consumption. Now the manufacturer has developed the fully automated PhoeniX AGV based on this core product. “The PhoeniX AGV has a unique ability to recognise various long goods that protrude beyond the truck, which is crucial for multi-directional sideloaders,” said Hans-Joachim Finger, managing director of sales and purchasing at Hubtex. The truck also includes dynamic mapping, precise positioning, and block storage as standard.
“Our consultants determine the suitable level of automation for each individual user and calculate the resulting costs. By asking intuitive questions right from the outset, we are able to provide a coherent and extremely cost-effective AGV solution,” said Mr Finger.
□ W Exhibition postponed until 2022 The UK’s leading woodworking machinery exhibition – W Exhibition & Elements – has postponed its autumn 2021 show until February 6-9, 2022. The decision was prompted by the
move by Ligna – the world’s largest woodworking machinery exhibition in Germany – to postpone its May show until this September, clashing with the W Exhibition’s original dates. Following its February 2022 outing,
The W Exhibition will return to the NEC in September 2023 before continuing to follow a biennial frequency, after Ligna, thereafter.
