Dutch offshore tenders encourage innovation
In December 2022, it was announced that Ecowende, a joint venture of Shell and Eneco, was winner of the permit for the Hollandse Kust (west) Site VI offshore wind farm, following assessment of the applications received by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and an independent expert committee.
Ecowende is required to build the wind farm with “attention to nature.” It is expected to be commissioned in 2026.
The Hollandse Kust (west) wind farm zone – HKWWFZ – is located more than 50 km off the Dutch coast near IJmuiden.
The wind farm, which, like Hollandse Kust Dutch offshore wind energy roadmap, as of December 2022 (source: RVO)
(west) Site VII, is being realised without subsidy and is also due to enter operation in 2026, will have an installed capacity of 756 MW and consist of 54 wind turbines.
Also, as with the Hollandse Kust (west) Site VII tender process, Site VI applicants were asked to offer money. Together with the costs
