Shri Bhupender Gupta takes charge as NHPC Chairman and MD
Shri Bhupender Gupta has assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC Limited, a Government of India Navratna enterprise and the country’s leading hydropower company. The appointment took effect on September 4, 2025, at NHPC’s Corporate Office in Faridabad. Before this appointment, Gupta was
Director (Technical) at THDC India Limited. He also continues to hold additional charge as CMD of SJVN Limited. Gupta holds a degree in electrical engineering and an MBA in Operations Management. He began his career with ACC Ltd. in 1991 and joined SJVN in 1995, where he worked for 12 years. During his tenure, he was involved in the planning, erection, commissioning, and operations of the 1500MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Plant, India’s largest operational hydroelectric project. He also worked on deputation in Bhutan at the 1020MW Tala Hydroelectric Power Project from 2002 to 2005. In 2007, he joined REC Ltd., where he was associated with financing hydro and thermal projects for about six years. He later served as Additional CEO in REC subsidiaries, overseeing project execution, contract management, and consultancy for power sector projects across India, including government schemes such as Saubhagya, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, and PMDP.
Gupta was deputed to Bhutan again in 2020 as Director (Technical) at the Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority, where he led construction activities and resolved contractual issues. He became Director (Technical) at THDCIL in June 2023, providing leadership on commissioning challenges at the Khurja STPP and Tehri PSP projects. With more than 34 years of experience, including 31 years in central public sector undertakings, Gupta has worked across hydro, thermal, renewable energy, transmission, and distribution sectors. Gupta said his vision is to address India’s
growing power demand through non-fossil fuel-based resources and strengthen the country’s energy security. He emphasised the importance of integrating artificial intelligence and adopting emerging technologies such
as EV grid integration, cybersecurity, digital protection, green hydrogen, bioenergy, and energy storage.
Minesto names Alexander Jancke as new CFO
Ocean energy developer Minesto has appointed Alexander Jancke as its new Chief Financial Officer, starting in October 2025. Jancke has nearly ten years of experience as a certified auditor and financial adviser at KPMG. He has also worked as CFO at Griffeye Technologies AB, an international technology company, where he gained experience in bringing innovation to the global market. “We welcome Alexander on board. His solid
background in both the core competence of managing finance and contributing to a broader business-driven management team is of significant value in our current phase of development,” said Dr Martin Edlund, CEO of Minesto. Current CFO Gustav Kvibling is leaving his position to pursue opportunities outside the company.
“Gustav has brought long-lasting value
to the company with the implementation of tools and processes for efficient accounting and financial reporting, with special attention to project-related controlling, thus creating a platform fit for customer delivery projects. We wish him all the best in his new role,” Edlund said.
