for underground mining, the AutoMine Concept vehicle is equipped with new sensing capabilities and artificial intelligence to help the cabinless technology demonstrator perceive its surroundings and environment in 3D, and react in real time. This enables the vehicle to adapt and plan its own route, and to find the most suitable paths even in continuously changing environments. In addition, Sandvik will unveil its latest battery- electric underground truck, together with a virtual introduction to new loader technology with AutoMine readiness. The company will also launch Sandvik DS412iE, the battery-powered rock bolter that rounds out its first full zero-emissions offering for all underground drilling applications. Sandvik’s 20,200ft2

Hall 3, booth #6212 will demonstrate the company’s commitment to ‘Innovation in mining – make the shift’, a theme that underscores its focus on helping customers mine more sustainably through technology. “We were proud to launch the industry’s first battery-driven underground jumbo five years ago at MINExpo International 2016, and we’re proud of our ongoing progress in electric equipment innovation since then,” said Henrik Ager, president of Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, in a statement prior to the event. “We continue to expand our offering, and our latest battery-electric equipment contributes to a cleaner and quieter environment without compromising safety, productivity or efficiency.” On a similar note, Caterpillar’s MINExpo 2021 experience is themed ‘Together, we’re mining better’ and celebrates the company’s partnership with mines and the ways it assists customers to mine more efficiently, effectively, safely and sustainably. “After waiting an extra year, the mining industry is ready to reconnect at MINExpo. We are excited to show our customers and the industry the advancements Caterpillar has made not only in equipment, technology and services but also in how we are helping customers mine more sustainably,” commented Denise Johnson, Caterpillar Resource Industries group president, ahead of the event. Caterpillar is set to unveil the world’s largest, most powerful and efficient electric drive dozer with high drive from its Central Hall exhibit, #6229, at MINExpo 2021. The new Cat D11 XE dozer will reportedly be the most advanced dozer in the industry with the lowest emissions per tonne, built to deliver the lowest cost of bank cubic meters (BCM) ever. Exhibited alongside the D11 XE, the new Cat D10 dozer offers up to 4% less fuel consumption than the previous model, up to 3% more productivity with high-horsepower reverse and up to 6% more efficiency with combined load-sensing hydraulics and stator clutch torque divider. However, Caterpillar has further advances to offer. Equipped with MineStar Command for

hauling, the new Cat 777G Water Truck provides a glimpse into the future for autonomously lowering dust levels at the mine site while maintaining haul road safety. Featuring the market’s first autonomous water delivery system, the machine integrates truck, tank and sprayer, and knows where and when to water haul roads.
Eriez, on the other hand, will be exhibiting some of the latest developments from its state-of-the-art suspended electromagnets (SEs), wet drum separators and revolutionary flotation technology. Located in the south hall #24439, Eriez is a global leader in separation technology used throughout mineral processing operations. SEs, available in both manual and self-cleaning models, provide tramp metal collection from conveyed materials. Wet drum separators feature the newest advances in magnetic circuitry design and offer continuous recovery of magnetite or ferrosilicon. The Eriez flotation product line product line encompasses flotation cells, gas spargers, slurry distributors and flotation test equipment. That’s just a taste of what will be on offer at MINExpo International. The event will also provide an ideal opportunity for industry leaders and decision makers to come together to source new strategies and purchase the equipment, products and services needed to meet the mineral and resource requirements that will drive the green energy revolution, rebuild vulnerable supply chains and bolster the global economy in the wake of the pandemic. Of course, any in-person event this year presents new challenges, and MINExpo International holds the safety and health of exhibitors, attendees, and show partners as its highest priority. The NMA is working closely with the Las Vegas Convention Center and federal, state and local public health officials to incorporate best practices at every level of the show. While the Covid-19 pandemic has put halt to a lot of things over the past year, this event will not be one of them. ●
