Demag to supply three process cranes for ambitious combined heat and power plant in Germany
D
emag has won a contract to supply three process cranes, equipped with grabs, for “green” power generation at
E.ON biomass power plant in Hürth, near Cologne, Germany. It is the first time it
will use its Demag Remote Operating Stations, for a project of this scale, with remote control of the crane systems. The order by Green Steam Hürth, a subsidiary of E.ON, is part of the construction of a biomass power plant with an output of 20 MW of electricity and 87 MW of heat energy at the site of the
UPM paper plant in Hürth. The power plant, where E.ON is
investing approximately €110 million, is due to start operations in mid 2022, and will provide heat for the Hürth paper factory and, at the same time, feed renewable energy into the grid. UPM produces more than 300,000 tons of newspaper made from recycled paper at the factory every year.
S The Demag Remote Oeprating Station (ROS) serves as a monitoring station when the cranes are in automatic mode.
