Fleet preview Equipment: Safety:

Unsurprisingly the Elroq comes with a wide range of safety and energy preservation systems. The latest version of Travel Assist combines Adaptive Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist,

Although it shares many of the same underpinnings as the Enyaq, the Elroq is much shorter. Make that 165mm shorter, and this reduction is most evident when you open the rear hatch. While the Enyaq boasts a mountain bike-swallowing 585 litres with the rear seats in place, the Elroq makes do with a tricycle-accommodating 470 litres. Of course, being a Skoda there are many ‘simply clever’ solutions, including a parcel shelf that can be located halfway up the boot to provide a split-level arrangement, and that same shelf comes with an underslung net to store the Elroq’s charging cable. There’s also an underfloor recess, useful for storing muddy wellies, while hooks are provided to hang that Friday night takeaway bag as well as an ice scraper and tyre tread depth gauge. Additionally, a handy umbrella is stashed behind the door card for those days when you’d rather not, but man’s best friend insists you do. Inside a floating console between the front seats comes with two separate pull-out trays and a cavernous bin below, while yet another storage bin is located beside the gear selector and another tray in front of the cupholders.

Emergency Assist and Side Assist, while Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control can be employed to optimise energy savings by automatically adapting the vehicle’s speed to the route, considering bends, junctions and roundabouts. Collision protection is provided by the standard Front Assist, which includes Predictive Pedestrian Protection, Predictive Cyclist Protection, Collision Avoidance Assist and Turn Assist. Up to nine airbags protect occupants including airbags for the driver and front passenger, head airbags, front side airbags and a central airbag between the front seats but disappointingly rear side airbags are only available as an option on cheaper models.

Range, batteries, and performance:

The SE 50 model has a theoretical 230-mile WLTP range, while SE L 60 models boost that range to 250 miles. Edition and Sportline models are available with two battery options, 60 and 85kWh with the larger battery delivering approximately 360 miles on the

WLTP cycle. Outputs of 170hp, 204hp and 285hp make up the power gradient, with the first two sharing the same 228lb ft of torque and the top model getting a significantly punchier 401lb ft.

Price and spec:

The Elroq will be available with four trim grades: SE, SE L, Edition, and SportLine. Prices range from £31,500 for the entry-level SE model with a 55kWh battery to £41,600 for the range-topping SportLine, which comes with the largest 82kWh battery. SE features cloth and artificial leather upholstery, a 13in touchscreen display, a digital cockpit, single- zone climate control and a six-meter, 32A Type 2 charging cable, along with rapid charging capability of up to 145kW from a DC charger. SE L adds dual-zone climate control, drive mode select, front parking sensors, a rear-view camera, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, a leather heated multifunction steering wheel with paddles for recuperation selection, heated front seats, satellite navigation and Skoda Connect – Infotainment Online and Remote Access, free for three years. The flagship, SportLine trim comes with 20in alloys, matrix LED headlights, unique SportLine bumpers and gloss black roof rails, microsuede and artificial leather upholstery, carbon-effect decorative inserts, front sports seats and a black headlining. It also adds progressive dynamic steering as standard, while the 85kWh version adds sports suspension and an electrically operated tailgate with kick activation.
