Gary Bates, senior marketing manager, IAM RoadSmart, talks to Martyn Collins about its new RoadSmart app and how they work with businesses to find individual solutions.

AM RoadSmart has been making roads safer by improving driver and rider skills through coaching and education since 1956, with the organisation providing the respected Advanced Driver qualification for anyone looking to extend their expertise. Bates goes on to tell me that their courses for business drivers have been developed along similar lines, with a focus on using enhanced observation skills that help boost both safety and efficiency. He says: “Our courses have been created based on academic research into driver behaviour.


“We also work closely with businesses to find solutions to individual challenges, rather than applying a one size fits all method. Our online solutions have been created to allow each company to select whichever tools they find most beneficial for their fleet and use them to target their risk areas most effectively and at minimal cost. Also, some of our driver workshops were originally developed in direct collaboration with clients, so we know that they’re hitting the mark when it comes to targeting fleet-specific needs”.
