Energy firm SSE has extended its partnership with fleet safety company Applied Driving. The decision was made due to success in compliance with permits to drive, as well as a reduction in collisions since SSE introduced an Applied Driving programme in 2015. Each of SSE’s 9,000 company and grey fleet drivers will undergo annual risk profiling and licence checks to ensure they meet legal and company requirements.
Truckman’s ARB Ascent hardtop has been approved for installation with Toyota’s Hilux pick-up. Features of the hardtop include electric push-button lift-up side windows and a plug-and-play wiring loom that integrates with the vehicle’s existing locking mechanism to be locked with the truck’s key fob. The hardtop is designed to withstand 100kg dynamic and up to 400kg static weights.
Autorola UK has announced the appointment of Chris Timms as head of sales for its MarketPlace online remarketing platform. Timms moves from Suzuki, where he was a regional sales manager, proir to which he spent 12 years with Volkswagen Group. Autorola UK aims to double the size of the business within three years.
Powertrain technology firm BEDEO has announced the appointment of former JLR and Renault Group CEO Thierry Bollore to its advisory board as strategic advisor. BEDEO develops and manufacturers in-wheel electric motors for LCVs and has sold electric vans in the UK since 2017. Bollore said BEDEO was a company with a unique and strong product differentiation.
The average price of used LCVs sold at auction fell by 5.9% month-on-month in October, according to BCA. The auction company said the decline from £9,247 in September to £8,705 last month represents a return to a trend of decline seen since April – briefly bucked by a 4.1% rise in September. October’s average was the lowest seen since December 2020. BCA said this steady fall in average values resulted from a changing mix of stock and increased lower grade vehicles reaching the marketplace.

TOYOTA UNVEILS
oyota has announced updates to its LCV range, including the introduction of the new Proace
Max large van. The new model, Toyota’s first large
van, will be available with a choice of two wheelbase lengths (3,450 and 4,035mm), three overall lengths (5,413, 5,998 and 6,363mm), and two height options (2,524 and 2,764mm). These combinations offer load volumes ranging from 11.0m3
to 17.0m3 .
Engine options will include an electric version with a 200kW motor, which Toyota says will offer a range between charges of up to 260 miles. A Euro 6E-compliant diesel engine is also available with six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. Both electric and diesel versions are front-wheel drive. Vehicle weights are 3,500kg for the diesel and 4,250kg for the battery electric models. The electric Proace Max has a 1,800kg payload capacity and 2,000kg towing capability, depending on the model size configuration. With diesel vehicles,
payloads of up to 2,270kg can be carried; maximum towing capacity is 3,000kg, depending on the combination of length and height.
The Proace Max will also be the
first Toyota van to feature doors that can open to a 270° angle. While the platform is said to be suitable for a wide range of conversions, including one or three-way tipper and dropside

There will be a choice of Prime and Pro trim levels, two vehicle lengths, and panel van, double cab, and platform-chassis variants. Prices excluding VAT will start at £27,555 for the Vivaro, and £42,055 for the Vivaro Electric, with the latter £2,580 cheaper than the outgoing model. Sales are scheduled to start by the end of this year.
