Q ALAN YOUNG – AM PHILLIP TRUCKTECH Alan Young operates his Daily Business 70C18 to transport some unique cargo. Originally an animal transporter, the vehicle is now registered as a multipurpose leisure vehicle (MPLV), thanks to an impressive bodybuilding conversion completed by GB Bodybuilders Horseboxes in Bishop Auckland, Durham. Today, Alan’s Daily undertakes an array of missions with precious payload including horses, bikes, paddle boards and canoes. With this bespoke vehicle, the comfort and safety of horses and humans alike is utmost, and twin rear
wheels, memory foam seats, air con, Hi-Matic gearbox, rear air suspension and acoustic comfort kit were deemed necessary features. The Daily’s safety features such as AEB, cruise control, lane-keeping assist and crosswind assist were also must-haves for Alan. The Daily is being utilised as a recreational home away from home and it is vital to ensure total running
costs are kept low. With the 3.0-litre FIC Euro 6D Heavy Duty engine producing 176bhp and 430Nm of torque, there is certainly plenty of performance available when required – more so, when crossing rough terrain such as show-grounds. Increased intervals between servicing means the vehicle is on the road for longer. This is paramount; with only one vehicle, downtime is not an option.

When it required a commercial vehicle to support its work – transporting and disposing of waste clearance materials, diamond drilling, block & brick work, strip-outs and concrete scanning – it looked no further than the IVECO Daily 35C14H 3450mm wheelbase chassis cab. Daily’s credentials effortlessly make light work of LDD’s missions, including the impressive 3,500kg trailer towing weight. Towing heavy construction tools and safety equipment is a staple requirement for LDD. The robust nature of the Daily ensures the company can utilise the vehicle for longer periods of time,
contributing to reducing the total cost of ownership. LDD chose the IVECO Construction Pack as standard, which includes tyre pressure monitoring, cross axle differential lock and crank case sump guard to save costs. LDD attribute economic sustainability to its Dailys’ Euro 6 diesel engines that represent a significant leap forward in reducing harmful pollutants, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental regulations. LDD’s Dailys include lightweight aluminium cages from UK Truck Bodies, designed to handle heavy loads
and withstand the demanding conditions typically encountered during waste clearance operations. The cage tipper is designed with a hydraulic tipping mechanism that enables the entire load compartment to be raised.
Q Q CATERING SUPPLIES LTD – HAYNES TRUCKS Q Catering offers food service distribution in Kent, Surrey, London and West Sussex. It has seven IVECO Dailys on its fleet and the vehicles are instrumental in supporting the company on its efficient missions for customers. Q Catering selected the 3-litre 180-horsepower diesel engine and 8-speed Hi-Matic auto gearbox for its Dailys to ensure the correct power-to-fuel-economy ratio. The increased load capacity of the Daily has reduced Q Catering’s need to make multiple deliveries, cutting costs and emissions while maximising convenience for customers. The Daily’s robustness means long service intervals and minimal downtime is already providing large cost savings. Coupled with the Daily Business, it is improving the company’s total cost of ownership. With the Daily’s increased payload, Q Catering is now able to fulfil its schools’ contracts with just one van,
meaning the schools have more control over the arrival of their completed orders and it aligns with xtheir objectives of reduced food miles and lower emissions. In addition, Daily’s impressive payload benefits also mean Q Catering’s response times have greatly improved, impacting positively on its cost base. These cost savings have in turn been passed onto the company’s customers and recently saw Q Catering become a sole supplier to ICM Schools, after sharing the account for over 16 years.
