What Van? Awards 2025 | Risk Management

Fleet Operations E

stablished back in 2002, Fleet Operations offers a bespoke fleet management service to its portfolio of customers both in the UK and abroad. Based on three pillars, ‘Consult, Manage and Deliver’, the company recognises that each client has different requirements and that a consultative approach is essential to provide an appropriate suite of services. One key offering is the innovative MOVE

platform. It can not only collate driver risk, it can also provide insights across the entire fleet which in many cases can be actioned. Te system boasts a network of technology which is interconnected and includes an app used by the driver together with analytics portals for use by the fleet manager and other stakeholders. Te MOVE driver app provides

reassurance to the vehicle operator that the necessary checks are performed on a timely basis. Simplicity is at the forefront of the design. Tere are over 50 safety checkpoints and when a defect or area of non-compliance is found, the app flags this to a maintenance controller and the issue is seamlessly integrated into a service booking platform. All this can mean that what may be a simple repair now does not turn into a more serious issue later, involving costly downtime. If, however, a vehicle is classed as unsafe to drive, this is alerted to the fleet manager via the portal. MOVE driver app also supports crash detection functionality and can provide digital FNOL (First Notification of Loss). Te MOVE Driver app puts an onus

‘MOVE has proven itself...and the statistics are clear evidence that the system provides operators and employees with a safer working environment.’

on the driver to confirm their fitness to drive. Whilst importing live data from the DVLA which includes licence validity and endorsements, the driver can also be mandated to report on key risk factors such as eyesight, wellbeing and alcohol and drug use. He or she can be asked that they agree to abide by the terms of the fleet policy, that they have no medical condition which may impact the ability to drive and even that they agree to take a random alcohol or drug test if so requested.

Open API means that MOVE can

be integrated with third party or OEM telematics services, and algorithms are able to deduce an overall risk score for each driver. For the fleet manager, the MOVE dashboard clearly displays the data in a number of formats, and the results can be drilled and filtered down, problem areas being quickly highlighted and appropriate action then taken as required. In addition, MOVE has a stakeholder

portal – this allows for new vehicles to be configured including ancillary equipment, and offers clear insights into metrics such as lease acquisition costs, depreciation and fuel spend. Reporting is configurable, from a high level overview to granular detail. MOVE has proven itself with clients and

the statistics are clear evidence that the system provides operators and employees with a safer working environment. Driver performance improvements have been reported by operators of MOVE, the employees driving in a safer, lower risk manner. But importantly, 92% of drivers rate the app as excellent, proving that they are not using it reluctantly and are ‘buying in’ to the benefits it offers, rather than reluctantly using it, considering it to be management looking over their shoulders. Cost reductions are sought after by all fleet operators, and it has

been reported that resources required to manage vehicle checks and defects are reduced by 90%. Vitally, compliance levels have improved by around 60%, not only reducing paperwork but demonstrating to any outside organisation or customer that the company is ensuring that its drivers are qualified to operate the vans. 
