GLOSSARY CORRIDOR FUNCTION
Refers to luminaires that when not required to emit 100% light output, switch to 10% output. This ‘standby mode’ allows the luminaire to provide a low level of illumination for a feeling of security so the area is not totally dark. Upon sensing movement, the output automatically and instantly switches to 100%. This is particularly useful in circulation areas such as corridors and stairwells.
BLUETOOTH NLC
Bluetooth® Networked Lighting Control (NLC) is the only full-stack standard for wireless lighting control. Bluetooth NLC offers standardization from the radio through the device layer, enabling true multi-vendor interoperability and mass adoption of wireless lighting control.
PRESENCE DETECTION 100%
Lighting is automatically activated when presence is detected via a sensor, then deactivated when the sensor fails to detect presence.
ABSENCE DETECTION 10% MICROWAVE SENSOR
The sensor emits low power microwaves that form a pattern in the area covered. When movement disturbs the pattern, the movement is detected and the sensor turns the light source on. Microwave sensors are only recommended for indoor use as they are sensitive to
movement and not heat.
Lighting is manually activated via a switch, then automatically deactivated when a sensor fails to detect presence.
DAYLIGHT HARVESTING/DIMMING
Lighting is automatically dimmed in response to incoming daylight detected via a sensor.
SCENE SETTING Lighting can be adjusted to preset levels via a switch.
2.6m 6m 30m PIR
Passive Infra Red sensors detect movement by the change in background temperature as body heat moves into the area.
Rows of fittings in a single zone can be dimmed to different levels in response to natural daylight captured from a single sensor due to the fittings being individually addressed.
LCM/CONNECTION BOX
Lighting Control Modules, connection, or marshalling boxes as otherwise known are modular, centralised wiring points for lights fittings allowing easy termination to a single point and the ability to safely disconnect fittings for fault finding.
2.8m
LUMINAIRE INTEGRATION Sensors can be installed directly into a luminaire to achieve granular levels of control.
