UP FR ONT WET SUIT
THERE ARE plenty of travel suits now available – crease resistant, they can cut down on paying for pressing at the hotel. But Hugo Boss now has a high-end washable suit made of a highly twisted yarn that, as well as increasing elasticity, ensures the wool fibres don’t shrink or become misshapen during washing. The jacket has a deconstructed shoulder which is not only fashionable but also allows for machine-washing, as does the fact that the pieces are mostly unlined, making it more breathable and lightweight with only a thin poly-blend lining in the sleeves that has been carefully selected for its high tear and abrasion-resistant properties. Jacket and trousers are sold separately allowing you to mix and match different designs. Blazers cost US$582, trousers US$219.

AR R IVE DE RC I THE AR R IV A L
IT WAS a sad day on November 5 as Cathay Pacific shut the doors on its popular Te Arrival lounge in Hong Kong to make way for the airport’s terminal redevelopment plan. At this stage it remains unclear whether Cathay
will open a new facility – the airline has stated that it will continue to explore “new ways and partnerships that enhance [its] product and service offerings”, but admits that availability for an alternative location is currently limited and not especially suitable. Located on Level 3 between the airport’s two
terminals, The Arrival lounge was a regular stopping point for early arrivals into the city.

BACK TO BASICS
SOMETIMES when travelling, all you need is simply a bed to lay in, and hotel group Premier Inn has taken that quite literally with its new no-frills Zip brand. These pared-back rooms measure
just 8.5 sqm and feature a single bed that can either be converted into a double or two singles, along with a small bathroom with a power shower and simple amenities. However, they are set up for guests to be able to work and stay connected in,

with power sockets located beside the beds along with free wifi throughout the hotel. The first Zip hotel is expected to open in March next
year in Cardiff, UK, with stays expected to cost £19 (US$25) per night.

Why no pyjamas for world’s
longest flight? SINGAPORE AIRLINES (SIA) has relaunched its non-stop flights to New York (see page 66), a service that at more than 18 hours has enabled it to reclaim the title of longest commercial flight in the world. But despite the length of the trip, the airline has remained steadfast in its commitment not to offer pyjamas to passengers in business class, even though it has introduced other offerings designed to promote sleep. So why is that? According to Campbell
Wilson, SIA’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, the carrier feels that the majority of passengers on its flights don’t use pyjamas and that “most travellers bring a change of clothes if they wish to, or indeed just sleep in the clothes they have”. Having been on the flight ourselves, though, we feel this was a missed opportunity.
