CILIP RPG visit to Highgate School library

Highgate School was established in 1565 by Royal Charter of Queen Elizabeth I. It is a Grade II listed heritage building for its gothic exterior, which dates back to the 1800s. In 2014, their newly renovated library was opened by former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The library’s title is the Sir Martin Gilbert Library, named after the historian and official Winston Churchill biographer. Up to 12 places available.

The day includes Exeter Central Library, which has an average of 1,500 daily visits and holds over 60,000 items on 1km of shelves that can be issued at self-service points. Then onto The Devon and Exeter Institution is an independent historic library and educa- tional charity in the heart of the city. It was established in 1813, in order to promote ‘the general diffusion of Science, Literature and the Arts’ and this resolution remains at the centre of our cause to this day. Ending at the Exeter Cathedral Library in the West Wing of the Bishop’s Palace. It is a modern library and archive facility with many thousands of books and documents, which span the 10th to 21st centuries.
