IN DEPTH

Whilst health literacy is widely recognised as a key determinant of health and now enshrined in health policy worldwide, there appears to be a gulf between policy and practice. – Steven Buchanan

Keynotes for the International Congress of Medical Libraries

Two of this year’s International Congress of Medical Libraries (ICML) Keynotes speak to Rob Green about what to expect from next month’s gathering in Glasgow. Lucy Aphramor will be looking at “healthy eating” and what that really means, while Steven Buchanan will be looking at health inequalities from a human information behaviour perspective.

IFLA’s International Congress on Medical Librarianship heads to Glasgow from 14-16 July, bringing together health librarians and knowledge specialists from across the globe. In a landscape profoundly reshaped by the pandemic, with the rise of hybrid working, increased awareness of societal and health inequalities, and a greater need for collaborative approaches, ICML 2026 will bring together pro- fessionals from around the world to explore these challenges and opportunities.”

Delivering opportunities for professional devel- opment and networking through an inclusive and varied programme, the Congress is a highpoint on the calendar for anyone working in the health infor- mation sector.
