So, I am delighted Bas Edmonds will speak on the subject of evolving maritime regulation, with special focus on sub 24 metre vessels, including the new workboat code. Nick Deal, Bond Solon, will tackle the subject of expert witness, something many surveyors do or consider doing. But what is involved and how do you ensure you deliver what a court is expecting and in the right format? Nick will reveal the answers!


Guest of Honour at the IIMS Conference dinner on Monday 17 June at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace is Capt Andrew Moll, Chief Executive, Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), who will speak.


The Agenda for the Annual General Meeting scheduled for 14.00 on 18 June will be published in the coming weeks and distributed to all members by email.


The annual and excellent Seawork show is taking place at Southampton from 11-13 June. Once again, the Small Craft Surveyors Forum that IIMS is heavily involved with will be running an afternoon of free seminars at the event on Wednesday 12 June starting at 13.30 in Conference Room 2. The speaker schedule is being finalised now and an email will be sent soon. Make sure you pop by our stand at the show too and say hello.


The past month has seen IIMS deliver more quality, well attended training activities. In early April, under the tutelage of John Excell, a group of surveyors attended our one-day tonnage training course at Itchenor Sailing Club. And just last week, a group of around 20 surveyors took part in what proved to be an excellent two-day event (three days for some) at the Western Mediterranean Large Yacht & Small Craft Working Group in Palma, culminating in a practical sea trial demonstration. There are more detailed reports in this news bulletin about both events.
