Christmas Around the World
Inspire a deeper appreciation for our own traditions, while fostering an understanding of the incredible diversity that enriches our vibrant world. Let’s instill in our young learners the spirit of unity and togetherness, that this joyous season brings.
Mexico (Las Posadas)
This nine-day celebration reenacts Mary and Joseph’s search for a place to stay. Encourage children to create their own nativity scene using crafts, and then act out the story together. For inspiration on creating a cherished nativity scene see pages 18 -19.
Spain (Roscón de Reyes)
Why not let children try a traditional Spanish treat like Roscón de Reyes. A Roscón de Reyes is a traditional Spanish brioche-like sweet bread eaten the night before or morning of Reyes or King’s Day (6th January) which celebrates Epiphany when the Three Kings came to visit the baby Jesus in Bethlehem.
India (Diwali)
Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is a major Hindu festival celebrated with the lighting of lamps and fireworks. Why not have a creative arts and crafts session and watch creativity light up, with some fun Diwali crafts . For even more crafting inspiration click here.
