T e Free State added a new CIC to its eventing
Kelli Temple (VA) started out the CIC* with a 39.9 in dressage aboard Matilda putting them in the lead. The pair stayed right there jumping clean in show jumping and clean again on cross-country.

In preparation for the event, which was run over two days, owner and organizer Carolyn Mackintosh and her crew started preparing the course nearly a year in advance, cutting new tracks to acommodate the longer distances and building many new jumps. New CIC sponsors Jon Charles (Euro Motorcars, Germantown), Hastilow, Competition Saddles and Cathy Hare (Horse Riding Vacations) joined in providing jump decorations, prizes and more. Over 60 competitors tackled the event with the big winners being Kelli Temple (VA) in the CIC* and Boyd Martin (PA) in the CIC**.
Young rider Courtney Swartz (Sandy Spring) was the top placing Marylander in the CIC*, fi nishing in fourth place with My Son MJ.

The new tracks for the CIC cross-country courses sent competitors through the main arena with jumps decorated by Euro Motorcars Germantown.
