WIHS Returns to Capital One T e Washington International Horse Show announced on November 15 that it will be returning to the Capital One Arena in Wash- ington, DC, for 2020. T e show, presented by MARS Equestrian, will be held October 20 – 25, 2020. In addition, WIHS announced that they are working closely with the leadership of Capital One Arena to secure the facility for the 2021 show. T e WIHS Regional Horse Show will continue to be held at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro.
MJC Creates New Preakness Week- end Qualifi ers
On November 14, the Maryland Jockey Club announced a new way for horses to qualify for Preakness weekend stakes races, including the 145th running of the Preakness Stakes. Win- ners of specifi c races at the following tracks will earn automatic entries into Preakness weekend races: Charles Town (WV), Laurel Park (MD), Golden Gate Fields (CA), Gulfstream Park (FL) and Oaklawn Park (AK). T e winner of the Federico Tesio at Laurel
Park will continue to earn an automatic spot in the Preakness Stakes. In addition, the winner of the Oaklawn Invitational and El Camino Real Derby will also have spots in the Preakness re- served for them. Other key races aross the country will earn winners spots in Preakness weekend stakes races such as Golden Gate’s San Francisco Mile serving as an automatic qualifi er to the Dixie. Oaklawn’s Count Fleet Sprint Handicap winner will have a spot in the Maryland Sprint and the top three fi nishers of the Orchid at Gulfstream will have fees waived for the Searching Stakes.

New Driving Dressage Tests
T e American Driving
Society, Inc., (ADS) has released its new dressage tests to be used beginning July 1, 2020. “T e ADS has always been com- mitted to supporting the evolution of the sport of carriage driving and the education of our mem- bers,” said ADS president Daniel Rosenthal. T e tests can be viewed
on ADS’s website. Current members have exclusive access to the Drivers View Tests. T ese new tests are identifi ed by letters to dif- ferentiate them from the old, numbered tests. T e tests were created by the Driven Dressage Com- mittee of T e American Driving Society, Inc. For the current season, both the new lettered tests and the older num- bered tests may be used at ADS-Recognized events through June 30, 2020. As of July 1, 2020, only the new tests may be used.
