Maryland Foals
WINNER: For over a decade, the August issue was dedicated to Maryland-bred foals and the big Foal Photo Contest. With opening the contest up to more than just foals, we just couldn’t leave foals out so they get their own category! Our Foals cat- egory winner was also a cover runner-up and if this was a foal photos only issue, it surely would have won! Our judges just could not resist the fuzziness of Little Telma, a mini donkey at Wynnfield Farm in Berlin. Charlene Sharpe of [Berlin] took the photo.

RUNNER UP: Tammie J. Monaco of Butler took this photo, which she titled “Living Hard,” of Loafers Lodge St. Patrick at Loafers Lodge Farm in White Hall. Compositionally, it is a sweet photo with plenty of room for cover text.
