As technology continues to make an impact on all areas of security, our
summer edition considers a range of developments and how the security sector can exploit the opportunities they bring.
We begin with two discussions on the approach to implementing new technology and its implications for the people responsible for delivering security. Do you play it safe? How do you ensure you take full advantage of what is available and get the value promised in the sales pitch?
The magazine continues with a focus on specific technology areas, starting with CCTV and GDPR one year on and how many organisations are simply not complying, plus emerging developments in video analytics. We consider how we can harden physical security to protect against cyber criminals.
In the face of ever-escalating cybercrime, with the 2017 Annual Fraud Indicator showing online fraud losses in the UK of around £73.4bn, we also discuss how to do business safely in a digital world, including cloud-based security, cyber security for those in the maritime sector and managing the insider threat.

Do you know what’s keeping your boss awake at night?
Our safety is not only dependent on preventing crime; fire prevention is a further important consideration. We overview the responsibilities for business and focus in on sprinkler systems.
We continue to work in partnership with law enforcement to combat and prevent all types of crime and keep people, businesses and our property safe. In these difficult times, when the threats are many and varied, together with financial pressures on law enforcement, the private security sector, in all its areas including systems, guarding and cyber, continues to do all it can support the police in their efforts.
