Stretching

In each edition of Polished, you’ll find our top tips for stretching out your money making hands, back and mind.

As Nail Technicians, using your hands is an integral part of your working day. It’s important to stretch out your hands after a long day, or particularly intricate nail art to minimise cramps, tightness and the risk of Repetitive Strain Injury (or RSI).

It’s important to note that if you are experiencing consistent pain in your knuckles, wrists or back you should consult your doctor to rule out anything serious.

Stretch only until you feel tightness. You shouldn’t feel pain. Start with this simple stretch:

1. Make a gentle fist, with your thumb wrapping around your fingers 2. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds. Release and spread your fingers wide. 3. Repeat with both hands at least four times.

Stretching your hands can increase your range of motion, strengthen your hands and relieve tightness.

Top Tip | Take A Bath

We all underestimate the power of a bath, we’re all rushing from place to place, and working tirelessly to reach our goals, it’s important to take some time for a little headspace. A bath is perfect place to achieve the ultimate relaxation to recharge after a long week.

The Louella Belle team love adding Salt Of The Earth Mineral Salt in the scent White Ginger to their baths, with 72 Trace Minerals this helps aid relaxation and restore all the lost minerals in your skin.

A warm bath can help release muscle tension, as you soak up all the skin benefits from your chosen bath salts and oils, the warm water gets your blood circulating which can help sore muscles relax.
