Lives, Together
It was during this time that Mary approached Donna Mack Shenk, Director of Pastoral Services, and Stu Landis about purchasing new music and making some upgrades to West Bethany’s technology.
“I got permission to pre-record songs by the Ladies Chorus for the last (2020) Christmas season during the pandemic. It became clear that more work needed to be done with the organ, the sound desk, and IT updates,” Mary said.
Donna Mack Shenk was excited to hear Mary’s ideas. “I told her this is a very worthy gift because music is central to our ministry, our worship, and our lives. Growing the music program and providing these resources will be a big blessing for years to come allowing residents who are lifelong musicians to share their gifts.”

from music presentations, church services, and other programs. Te IT department, Pastoral Services, Advancement, and those who volunteer in West Bethany to help with programming are all thankful for the upgrades. Especially during the pandemic, they have allowed for greater connections both on and off Landis Homes’ campus.
“Music unites our spirits, bringing us together in ways that nothing else can,” Donna Mack Shenk said. “It is also something that lives in our spirits, our bodies, so that even when we live with dementia, we can sing, hum or listen and it reaches the depths of our souls.”
In summary, Mary said, “I am hoping this gift will enhance the community’s ability to learn, to worship, and to participate virtually in campus programming.”
