Temenos Core Banking (formerly T24) retained its leader- ship position in the Universal Banking Systems category with 43 new customer wins, a 26% increase from last year. Nearly one third of these were made to clients in Africa and Asia and nearly 20% to microfinance institutions. The supplier also won some large mandates during the year, including multi-country implementations for Bank of Ireland and Standard Chartered, Singapore.
Amongst the other heavyweights, TCS Bancs reported 17 global deals, compared to 11 last year, level with Finacle on the leaderboard for Universal Banking. A notable win for TCS was at Sweden’s Lansforsakringar Bank, the first for the supplier in the country. Sopra Banking Systems had a good year, with 23 customer wins in 2016, through its two products, Amplitude (13) and Sopra Banking Platform (10). A surprise non-participant this year was Flexcube (Oracle), who had been the rank #2 holder in the IBS SLT over the last three years. We also had a few others, such as SAP, Capital Banking Solutions and Fiserv, who did not participate. Keeping with the convention, their deals have been reported as nil for the year.
In the Wholesale Banking category, the two most popular systems – MX.3 (Murex) and Calypso (Calypso Technol- ogy) – continued to dominate with Murex (15 deals) tak- ing the top spot this year; Calypso was close behind with 12. While Murex’s deals were concentrated in Europe and North America, Calypso’s were spread out evenly across Europe, North America and Africa. A new entrant,
Credence Analytics, broke into the top five with a respect- able seven wins for its integrated STP treasury solution, iDeal.
