Consider this: the average deal count for back office systems in the last three years was 242. 2016 alone saw the number shoot up to 361. This clearly reflects the following changing dynamics:

To give an overall context, the IBS SLT 2017 had 63 solu- tions (52 in 2016) with a 32% increase in the deal count over last year. While universal banking systems still ac- count for the lion’s share (47% of the total deals), we have seen a spike in lending systems, which have more than doubled. This is interesting, considering P2P and alterna- tive lending also emerging elsewhere on the horizon. Treasury applications, counted primarily in the wholesale banking system category, have also seen a considerable increase of 44%, reflecting an emphasis on compliance, reporting and regulation driven technology adoption.
