Chris Beukers has been appointed regional manager Asia Pacifi c, Tobias Unger has been appointed regional manager Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and Brian Hurdis has been appointed chief service delivery offi cer.

BBVA has announced the appointment of Alvaro Garrido as the head of the newly-created Information Security & Engineering Risk (IS&ER) unit, a new area within engineering, to co-ordinate the group’s information security, cybersecurity and engineering risk efforts. Garrido will be reporting directly to BBVA’s global head of engineering, Ricardo Moreno. The IS&ER unit will centralise and manage a variety of functions, including cybersecurity, fraud detection and business continuity.


Beukers is an experienced industry expert with more than 25 years of successful international track record in Asia Pacifi c and beyond, most recently for Pactera International.


Unger joined Avaloq in 2016 as the CEO of Avaloq’s Swiss service centre. Previously, in his leading roles at Falcon Private Bank, he had been a member of the Avaloq Community for many years.


Hurdis joins Avaloq’s leadership team as a highly experienced technology consultant with a strong track record in running large operations.

Before joining BBVA he served as group CIO at the Scandinavian banking group Nordea and group head of technology at the UK’s Standard Chartered Bank. Garrido holds a Master’s from the School of Telecommunications Engineering of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and has completed an International Management Program at MIT’s Sloan School of Management.


SSP has appointed Matt Gatrell as software engineering director, where he will lead the single cohesive engineering department formed by combining all of SSP’s software delivery teams globally into one capability.


Gatrell will report to COO Jim Sadler and will bring signifi cant experience


of leading software teams and driving modern software development practices to the role. He has served in senior technology leadership roles at a number of successful, fast-growth fi ntech companies, and joined SSP from Neilson Financial Services, where he was CTO.


Intelligent Environments has appointed Jeremy Young as CEO. Bringing more than 20 years’ experience in the fi nancial services and software sector, Young will join the company from Fiserv where he was responsible for all sales and marketing activities throughout EMEA.


Prior to this, Young served as head of retail banking & insurance with Oracle as well as holding the role of general manager of EMEA with Adeptra before and after its acquisition by FICO.


ID Finance has strengthened its board with the appointment of Kieran Donnelly as a board advisor. The appointment will support ID Finance as it continues rapid expansion and further diversifi cation of its business.


Donnelly served as CEO at 4fi nance, the European online and mobile consumer lending group for three years. He brings more than 30 years of management experience to ID Finance having also held senior roles at Standard Bank Group, MDM Bank and Renaissance Group.
