A Word FROM THEPRESIDENT
By Patrick Montgomery, DC MSCA President
O
ur Executive Director, Mrs. Anne Fehr and I attended the Annual
Convention of the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) held in Kansas City during June 19 through June 21. Many of the festivities were held at the Cleveland University - College of Chiropractic in Overland Park, Kansas. The Missouri State Chiropractors Association (MSCA) and the Kansas Chiropractic Association (KCA) were co-sponsors of the Convention. It was good seeing so many DCs present, some of which were from Missouri. Mrs. Fehr and I manned the MSCA booth, talking about the benefits of practicing in Missouri as well as being a member of the MSCA. Many Cleveland University students also stopped by to talk with us as well as students from other chiropractic colleges and universities. As your president, I had attended the American Chiropractic Association’s Conference and National Chiropractic Legislative Conference in Washington, DC in late February. Our initial contact to the ICA for this Conference was due to the ef- forts of Dr. David Zak, ICA represen- tative to the MSCA Board of Directors. As we get close to our Summer
Convention in August, at Tan-Tar-A Resort, I am reminded what a great honor it has been to serve as your MSCA President the last two years. During that tenure, I have traveled to Seattle, Atlanta, Washington DC, Dallas and Kansas City (twice), to participate in Conferences and meetings to rep-
resent you and your patients. Thanks to Dr. Carl Cleveland, III and his kind invitation, I was the commencement speaker at the Cleveland University’s graduation in August of last year. I have represented you at the inauguration of Logan University’s new President, Dr. Clay McDonald in June of last year. Dr. Dan Redwood of Cleveland University, Dr. Carl Cleveland III and Dr. Cheryl Hawk of Logan University and I testified last year in May at a

Mrs. Fehr is doing an excel- lent job and has hired very capable people to help her and the MSCA to move to even greater achievements in service to our members. Those are just some of the highlights of my last two years of service to you as

hearing in far northwestern Missouri to the special Missouri House committee on Medicaid reform on why it is important to include DCs and our great care for the residents of Missouri. Under the direction of MSCA PAC
Chair, Dr. Russ Matthias, members of the MSCA and chiropractic students spoke with every Legislator at the Capitol during our MSCA Legislative Days. With the leadership of our Centennial Committee, led by Dr. Joseph Lane (2013 Chiropractor of the Year), the MSCA celebrated our 100 year anniversary in style in Jefferson City, along with receiving a proclamation from the Governor, secured by our great Lobbyist, Mr. Mo McCullough. Our brilliant Legal Counsel, Mr. Geordie McGonagle, has been very active in the legal battles with insurance companies in order to ensure representation and proper reimburse- ment for services given by our members.

your MSCA President. I want to thank the entire Board of Directors, the MSCA Auxiliary and the MSCA Staff for all their support, ideas and efforts in helping to make the last two years some of the best that I have experienced in the 38 years of my being a Doctor of Chiropractic. I wish the best for incoming President, Dr. Doran Nicholson, in his efforts to keep the MSCA in the forefront of Chiropractic. Lastly, I wish to thank all of you for your support given to me during the last two years. I hope to see all of you at the MSCA Summer Convention, August 20th through August 23rd.
