Another focus for Hopper on taking the President’s gavel is get more member involvement in ARA.
“What people want to see is their association doing things that will make a difference in their business and help them stay in business,” says Hopper. “If we are to transition, we have to show that we are helping our members and their interests.”
“Members need to get more involved in the association. If one person doesn’t do their part, oth-
ers will have to take up the slack,” says Hopper. “We’re the only ones who represent our industry, and there is no substitution for experience.” Hopper has been a very active member of ARA and other organizations. He previously served as At-Large Director of ARA and was President and Southwest Director for the Arkansas Automotive Dismantlers
and Recyclers Association (AADRA). As part of his work with ARA’s Governmental Affairs Committee, he was chair of the National Motor Vehicle Titling Information Systems (NMVTIS) work group and sits on the Department of Justice’s NMVTIS Federal Advisory Board.
