Illinois U.S. Congressman Visits ARA Facility in His District


s part of ARA’s constituent outreach program to educate lawmakers, Rhodes Auto S/S/S in Streator, Illinois provided Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) with a recent tour of their facili- ty. Founder Jim Rhodes, along with his daughters and sons-in-law, hosted the Congressman, his staff, local bankers and press. During the visit, he demon- strated the unique nature of the profes- sional automotive recycling business. “I’m here because I wanted to see on the ground how a salvage business operates,” he said, as reported by mywebtimes.com. Congressman Kinzinger is an outspo- ken proponent for the industry and received the 2015 ARA Congressional

Champion Award at ARA’s Annual Hill Days this past March. This visit and tour further solidified his commitment to making sure that automotive recyclers are on an even playing field in the leg- islative and regulatory arena. NMVTIS Advisory Board Meets


he NMVTIS Advisory Board (NAB) met via conference call recently and discussed the AAMVA annual operating budget to implement NMVTIS and over- all program finances, the new release of the state web interface and subcommit- tee reports on compliance and aware- ness.

ARA’s NAB representative RD Hopper urged the board to focus on the report- ing numbers and professional automotive recycler NAB member Steve Levetan requested that NAB members be briefed on the specifics of AAMVA’s operating budget for NMVTIS.


An in-person meeting of the NAB is scheduled for Feb. 9th, 2016 in Washington, D.C. 
