And let’s not forget how hot it can actually get in Nor- Cal. – A successful outdoor event and BBQ re- quires some planning in case your surprise guest is a triple digit sun scorcher!
Te following checklist covers just about every- thing you need to consider when organizing and cultivating a fantastic community BBQ event.
Check in advance what the weather is going to be like. Tere are so many sources for weather updates it’s easy to see what you can expect up to 10 days in advance of your event. Nowadays everyone is aware of the damages of too much sun. Coupled with the possibility of triple digit temperatures you will want to make sure you have enough shade to avoid direct sunlight so make sure you tell attendees bring their pop up cano-

It may sound un-American but some folks just don’t BBQ. So be sure to add a theme & some fun and games to attract more interest and appeal. You can try adult themes like BBQ and Brew or BBQ and wine. If it’s more family oriented you need to have games. Sack races, three legged rac- es, egg toss or water balloon toss are so much fun! Bringing sports equipment and team games are another simple method to bring people together and ignite some fun!
Tis should match the theme of the event. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on decora- tions. Just enough to highlight the area and make people aware that something is going on and it looks like fun!
Tink about what sort of music your guests will enjoy and put together a few music playlist for the event. It’s so easy to liven up the event with music and with today’s hand held devices and Bluetooth speakers it’s easy to be the DJ at your event. If kids are coming to your event make sure the music is suitable for all to listen to.
