Spain: Tenerife 7
Canarian heritage Northern Tenerife has more character and charm than the south, so soak up the lusher landscape on a culture-rich drive. Close to historic La Laguna, a World Heritage town, the Real Club de Golf sets an old-fashioned, distinctly British tone. From here, head to gorgeous Garachico, with its cobbled streets, convents, churches and boutique hotels.
8
Coastal charms Its coastline is peppered with cool beach clubs and cosmopolitan bars, especially in the southwest — dolphin and whale-watching trips
set off from the beach playground of Los Cristianos. In the neighbouring vibrant resort of Playa de Las Americas, Golf Las Americas is a well-maintained amphitheatre of wide fairways, lakes, bunkers and ocean views.
9
Wild adventure Teno Park offers cliffside hiking trails and kayaking in the shadow of the majestic Los Gigantes cliffs. Thrill-seekers might also be up for surfing and scuba-diving, mountain- biking around Mount Teide or paragliding from countless launch sites. For adventure on the greens, Buenavista Golf is a Ballesteros- designed course, with the 15th and 17th holes set on the edge of a cliff.
10
Family-friendly island In the south, all the resorts within a short radius of the six golf clubs can arrange dolphin-watching, water- sports, horse-riding, stargazing and volcano visits for guests. Around the golfing hub of Costa Adeje, several luxury family-friendly hotels are set to launch by early 2017, including the Victoria Suite Hotel, complete with treehouses, zip-lines, rock-climbing and a suspended pool.
