Kitzbühel is the most legendary of alpine sports towns, but is far more than just a winter icon
Come summer, the Gamsstadt reveals a different side: a refined alpine retreat of rolling green mountains, immaculate trails and outstanding hospitality, appealing to travellers who value both activity and style. Kitzbühel is officially certified
with the European Hiking Quality Seal, a distinction it shares with its neighbouring villages of Jochberg and Aurach, both official members of the Austrian Hiking Villages. Together, the region offers more than 600 miles of clearly signposted hiking trails, ranging from gentle valley walks to demanding high- alpine routes. Highlights include the renowned Gamsroas – 9 Summit Tour, which has also been awarded the European Hiking Quality Seal. For those seeking something truly iconic, hiking the legendary Streif
downhill course is a must — it’s a unique way to experience one of the world’s most famous ski runs from a completely new perspective.
A GOLF DESTINATION AT THE HEART OF THE ALPS Golfers will also find much to look forward to. In 2026, one of Europe’s most prestigious tournaments comes to Kitzbühel: the Austrian Alpine Open. Following its successful debut in 2025 at Golfclub Gut Altentann, the tournament will take place from 25-31 May 2026 at the Kitzbühel- Schwarzsee-Reith golf course. With four courses in the town
itself, and a further 12 in the surrounding region, Kitzbühel ranks among the leading golf destinations in the Alps, combining sporting excellence with spectacular scenery.
MORE TO EXPERIENCE. MORE FREEDOM. MORE KITZBÜHEL Kitzbühel stands for alpine variety, short distances and experiences
tailored to individual tastes. From 2026, holidays in the region become even more rewarding thanks to an enhanced Kitzbühel Guest Card — the Kitz Card. New this year: during May, June,
September and October, the Kitz Card includes one complimentary ascent and descent per person per day on the Kitzbühel cable-cars, valid during regular operating hours and from the very first moment of your holiday. This makes access to the surrounding mountains effortless and intuitive, opening up the alpine landscape in a particularly comfortable way. This addition complements the
Kitz Card’s existing range of benefits, which include reduced green fees, discounted entry to the Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre and the Wildpark Aurach, as well as free participation in guided hikes, among many other advantages. The result is a guest card that offers
even more quality, more experiences and more freedom — day by day, mountain by mountain.
