hotel reviews THE PENINSULA, TOKYO

The Peninsula’s location is perfect, with the Imperial Palace just a stone’s throw away, Yurakucho eateries and the Ginza shopping area all within five minutes. Our Deluxe Room has an entry corridor leading to a

spacious open-plan bedroom and seating area, with plush textiles and luxuriously soſt linens, all sourced locally. The marble bathroom comes complete with Oscar de la Renta toiletries, and music and lighting are controlled from panels throughout the suite. As with other Peninsula hotels, the brand relishes

where it’s positioned, commissioning local artists for installations throughout the hotel. There’s also a shopping arcade and three restaurants with varied dining experiences. The Peninsula Tokyo leaves us feeling truly looked aſter and immersed in the culture: a relaxing city stay. Gabriella Finney

PEPPERMILL RESORT, RENO

Check-in is seamless and efficient; impressive with more than 1,623 rooms and suites here to keep track of. My Deluxe Two Queen room on the fourth floor is spacious and gilded to the hilt. The 33,000sq ſt, three-floored gold-hued Spa

Toscana provides respite from the hustle and bustle of the casino floor with relaxing massages, indoor pools and lounges. There are 10 dining options in this gargantuan

resort. I test out creative sushi at Oceano, gargantuan bowls of pasta at Biscotti’s and oozing cheese toasties at Café Espresso. The hotel is the first in the USA to be wholly

powered by its own source of geothermal energy. There’s a huge green initiative behind those dazzling lights. Josephine Price

LLANGOED HALLL, POWYS

Located in the beautiful rolling hills of Wales on the River Wye, Llangoed Hall is a sumptuous Edwardian country house with 17 acres of landscaped grounds. It even has its own bees, hen and ducks as the kitchen seeks to produce its own sustainable ingredients. Our room, the Paulton Suite, one of just 23, features

a four-poster bed, plenty of lounging area, a parquet- floored bathroom complete with roll-top bath and views over the mid-Wales countryside. The traditional decor continues throughout the building, with vintage furniture and an art collection which creates a real sense of history and character. The restaurant is a real draw, Nick Brodie’s

beautifully presented fare is not to be missed. The emphasis is on the quality of the produce and allowing flavours to flourish on the plate. Pat Riddell
