Retirement hotspots come in threes
Modern retirement can often mean downsizing to one of the many attractive property villages springing up across the UK. Market trends suggest there’s long-term investment value to be had for the over 65s in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. Words: Grahame Anderson
Research carried out by The Office for National Statistics has revealed 17.7% of the UK population was made up of people over the age of 65 in 2014 — expected to increase to 19.9% by 2024, given current projections. More people aged 75 and over are staying
relatively healthy, and as potential ‘super- agers’, are looking forward to an active and exciting retirement. Property group JLL produced a study showing 80% of over-65s will find themselves in the mid or high-end affluence bracket by 2025. This may not be the case for everyone, but regardless it seems a whole new world of property is opening up to retirees from all walks of life. At the foot of the Chiltern Hills half a mile
