Canadian Affair & American Affair Announce New Travel Trade Executive for NI


CANADIAN Affair & American Affair have welcomed a new travel trade executive to their team. Lucy Park joins as Travel Trade Executive covering Scotland and Northern Ireland. Following significant growth in 2024,


Lucy’s appointment signifies the operator’s commitment to supporting the trade with this newly created position. Lucy joins the operator with over 15 years’ experience with positions held at multiple travel agencies including Dawson & Sanderson, Virgin Holidays and Thomas Cook.

Roadshow Visits Belfast


NI Travel News, along with members of the travel trade, attended the 2025 Aer Lingus USA Roadshow. Taking place, for the first time, in the Merchant Hotel, Belfast, attendees networked with over 23 USA partners, including Aer Lingus, Brand USA and Dublin Airport. Attendees received a short brief from the sponsors – Brand USA and Dublin Airport, before continuing a night of networking with American food offerings. Attendees also had the chance to win flights to any of the destinations in attendance. Many thanks to Aer Lingus for inviting NI Travel News to attend this annual event.

CLIA Highlights Breadth of UK Cruise Benefits at Parliamentary Event


REPRESENTATIVES from across the cruise industry met with MPs and Peers to share the breadth of benefits that the cruise industry brings to the UK. Industry leaders, including cruise line executives, travel agents, port operators and suppliers, were hosted by CLIA at the reception in the House of Commons. With CLIA’s latest data highlighting how the industry supports 60,000 jobs across the country, politicians were able to learn more about how cruise benefits businesses, travel agents and local economies throughout the UK, including coastal communities. With more than 25 MPs in attendance, the event demonstrated the growing awareness of the importance of the cruise industry to their local areas across the country. The event was sponsored by Mike Tapp


MP, the Member of Parliament representing the Port of Dover, who spoke about the importance of the cruise industry in bringing tourists to Dover. The cross-party event was addressed by Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Security, Mike Kane MP, and Stuart Andrew MP, a former Tourism Minister and now Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. They were joined by more than 25 MPs representing different parties from all parts of the UK.


CARNIVAL Cruise Line’s Christine Duffy has marked 10 years as the line’s president.


Christine joined the operator in 2015, following a spell as CEO of Cruise Lines International Association. Prior to that she worked in the travel agency and meeting planning sectors.


In her time leading the cruise line, she has overseen the launch of nine ships and 70 ship refurbishments. During her tenure, 13,500 cruises have departed, with 42.5 million guests sailing with Carnival. In October 2024, Christine took part in a skydive for Hurricane Helene relief efforts and has supported fundraising work for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In July 2025, Carnival will open its new exclusive destination, Celebration Key, and additional expansion is taking place on the newly renamed RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay. The Carnival Cruise Line fleet will also expand with five new ships on order, for delivery through to 2033.
