Known as the ‘King of Fish’, the Atlantic salmon is able to propel itself out of the water to clear vertical obstacles during its journey upstream.


Watching tip:


Early mornings and evenings during October and November are best, and a period of rain after a dry spell will provide the best conditions for salmon to leap as the raised river levels give them a much-needed


boost. Look for stretches with small waterfalls, find a good vantage point and take care!
