Corporate members
The natural environment is no different from your business environment. It needs management, care, expertise and effort to flourish. It also needs investment from people and businesses.

We are grateful for the support each of our corporate supporters gives. Some have been supporting the Trust for many years (some since the 1980s) and this time we welcome two new supporters.
Michelle Waller, Senior Development Officer Alpkit: go nice places, do good things!
We’re delighted to tell you that Alpkit is our newest corporate supporter. They are an outdoor company with environmental considerations in mind. They also believe the best products should be used year-in, year-out and this, ultimately, is the most environmentally friendly way to do things. So, Alpkit encourage people to fix products and have done so for the last 15 years. They offer a repair service for their own brand and any other brand too.
Like us, Alpkit believe spending time outdoors is good for the mind, body and soul but feel that generally people are spending less time outdoors. David Hanney, Chief Executive, says this “is a problem we're helping to tackle and support direct action where we can make a positive difference and help people get out and experience wild places”.
With stores in Cumbria and Derbyshire I’m pleased to report they have decided to support both Wildlife Trusts local to them. It wasn’t an ‘either/or’ decision.
Red squirrels come on in leaps and bounds thanks to Furness savers
Savers with Furness Building Society have helped to raise just under £7,000 to protect red squirrels in Cumbria, with the society’s Save the Red Squirrel Charity Account.
Every year Furness Building Society gives Cumbria Wildlife Trust a cash donation to help red squirrels, based on a percentage of the total funds held by savers in this charity account.
This is a very generous donation that will really help one of our most popular native species. For 17 years now savers who put their money in this special account have been supporting red squirrel conservation Cumbria. In this time over £211,400 has been donated by Furness Building Society. We’re very grateful to Furness Building Society for their continued support.
Everyone loves to see red squirrels. You can spot them at Smardale Nature Reserve where we’re about to
install a special feeding station. Photo: Luke Massey/2020VISION
