Welcome to Touring & Adventure: The Hotlist, your first-ever guide to the trade’s top-selling, most-trusted and most-valued brands in the growing market for guided holidays. Any agent familiar with Travel Weekly’s Cool Cruises or Perfect Places publications will know just how useful these guides can be. Not only are they a barometer of the brands you count on to provide the best experiences for your customers, but they also offer a great insight into the trusted suppliers other agents are selling and a source of inspiration for anyone new to the sector. That’s why I’m delighted to reveal our new Hotlist format, with a fresh look for our agent-voted survey of your favourite touring and adventure suppliers. There’s no doubt about the growing appetite for adventure among the travelling public, whatever age they might be, and whether they see adventure as a week- long trek through the wilderness or a short foodie tour around a city. But with limited time, annual leave or experience of going it alone, more travellers are looking to escorted touring providers to help shape their holiday so they can devote their energy to having fun instead of looking up train timetables or researching hotels. And that’s not just a trend among the trade. Our consumer partner, Mail Metro Media, is also seeing plenty of interest in touring and adventure holidays of all kinds, so turn to page 21 to find out which companies its travel-savvy readers rate in our raft of consumer categories. And in the pages that follow, find out which suppliers have earned the respect and recognition of their agent partners – and pick up some tips along the way.


how we counted your votes


Travel Weekly readers were asked to vote for the best touring brands across 10 categories in an online survey hosted on travelweekly.co.uk from September 19 to October 18, with paper surveys also available to


fill out at industry events including the Atas Conference in Manchester and Atas Connects roadshow in Romford, Essex. The survey collected more


than 3,000 votes in total from a mix of high street agents, independent agents and homeworkers. Travel Weekly would like to thank all the agents who took part.
