SOUTH AUSTRALIA

THREE’S A CHARM IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Go from walkable cities to wilderness-filled islands in this endlessly diverse state

1

KANGAROO ISLAND Just a 20-minute flight from Adelaide, Kangaroo Island offers wild, untouched

beauty. “My favourite part of the whole trip was Kangaroo Island. We explored the island’s beauty and wildlife, and were lucky enough to see animals such as koalas, kangaroos and sea lions,” said Chloe Rawlins from Villair Travel. On an overnight trip, visitors can spot

abundant wildlife and tour attractions such as Remarkable Rocks and Admiral’s Arch in Flinders Chase National Park, which is still recovering from the 2020 wildfires. In Seal Bay, the wheelchair-accessible boardwalk offers a view of hundreds of sea lions – guided tours take guests to see them right on the beach.

walkable, but you can get farther on two wheels with Bike About, based in the Adelaide Hills. This family- owned company offers bike hire and e-biking tours across the state. The Adelaide city scenic tour stops at sights

ADELAIDE South Australia’s state capital is green and

such as the old Adelaide Gaol and the historic State Library, before a stroll through the Botanic Gardens. Elsewhere, guided tours of the Adelaide Oval share stories about the sports venue’s history, and there’s the chance to join the RoofClimb experience (pictured) for views over the stadium. More relaxing activities

are found in the beachfront neighbourhood of Glenelg. Here, Temptation Sailing takes guests out on a catamaran to admire dolphins from on board or up close in the water.

PORT LINCOLN West of Adelaide, Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula combines

great food and wine with outdoor adventures. “We saw wildlife and beaches with bright blue water, with almost no one around. It was beautiful,” said Natalie MacIntyre from Barrhead Travel. Lincoln National Park offers everything from fishing and swimming to sandboarding and nature walks, while Winter Hill Lookout has views over the city and islands. Untamed Escapes takes guests on tours around the sheltered bays and clifftops of Coffin Bay National Park, and they can even learn to harvest and shuck oysters, tasting them fresh from the sea.
