Take Off and Globes showcase the best A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

Travel Weekly’s annual prospectus-style publication Take Off in Travel was first produced over a decade ago in response to industry calls for better resources for young people looking for information on which to base their career choices. I am delighted that the 2024 edition was unveiled this week, once again in partnership with Abta and with the support of our headline sponsor Hays Travel, and as we report in this edition, ongoing challenges around recruitment and retention mean it is as essential as ever (page 5). This year’s edition of Take Off covers the array of roles available in the industry, in addition to information and advice on how to get your foot on the ladder, academic and vocational routes into the sector and the big issues (and myths) we continue to face (page 20).

I am incredibly proud that it remains a free resource for everyone in the industry to use – with all the information made available alongside a downloadable version of the print magazine at takeoffintravel.co.uk – and I hope it proves a valuable tool for you in your own outreach efforts. For those already established in the industry, this week also marks a milestone in the build-up to the biggest night of the year, as we reveal the shortlists for the 2024 Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards in our special voting supplement. These stellar line-ups really are a roll call of the industry’s most trade-friendly brands, so once you’ve checked out who has made it, please make sure you head to globetravelawards.co.uk and cast your votes for our worthy shortlisted finalists.
