The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Covid: It’s time to scrap the tests
Story: Aviation leaders give broad welcome to quarantine announcement
If the UK is likely to have the highest prevalence of Covid in Europe by the end of July, what is the point in testing people travelling? You are more likely to contract Covid if you stay in the UK than if you travel. The vaccine has reduced hospitalisations, deaths and fear. With a vaccination rate of 66% of adults by July 19 well within sight, and with vulnerable groups approaching 90%, this is as good as it gets. Testing increases fear without reducing risk, but is a huge cost and hassle burden for travellers. It’s time for further industry pressure to really get the travel sector going – it’s time to scrap the tests. Chris Williams
Brian Young @brianryoung G Adventures Farringdon-bound early start, as we officially open our head office back up after 16 long months. Excited to see some of my team face-to-face for the first time since March 2020.

Green list: Axing PCR tests would be boon
Story: Quarantine-free travel from amber countries to start from July 19 What about the green list? Green should mean green! Will Shapps and the UK government remove the mandate for PCR tests when we return to the UK from green list countries? That would really be a game changer for this summer. It would get Britain moving again and open for travel without barriers. Speakthetruth
Marella Cruises @marellacruises The countdown is over: Marella Explorer 2 sets sail from Port of Tyne today on her first UK cruise.

Story: ‘No reason data can’t be provided’ MAG lawyers tell High Court Simon Mark Ainscow: It’s about time this government were made accountable for their lies and unfair management of the UK travel industry while the rest of Europe got their airlines up and running with no issues.
