Gemma Antrobus @LuxuryTravelGem Haslemere Travel and Aito STA What do those travelling from France not have, that all other travellers do have? Do they pass though a magic portal that makes them Covid- free? Has a deal been done here that we don’t know the other side to? All seems a little odd?
Dr Steven Freudmann @FreudmannSteven ITT A 14-day quarantine for arrivals into the UK will turn a bad dream into a nightmare for the industry. What employer is going to grant a month’s holiday to those taking a two-week break? Horse and stable door comes to mind.

The best of your letters, comments and social media this week CAA: Why’s it been silent?
I think it is utterly disgusting that no one from the CAA has been forced to appear on TV or in the media to try to explain what is happening and what it proposes to do about it, especially as it is a government body. This was shown to be even more of a farce when the likes of [travel journalist] Simon Calder were at the parliamentary select committee hearing last week but no one from the CAA.

Protection: Travel needs to put client money in escrow
Story: David Urquhart Travel to wind up coach operator Sad to see the disappearance of such a distinguished business. It was one of the great disruptors in the 1980s, shaking up the coach holiday industry post-deregulation. Enjoy your retirement, David! Interesting to see how the use of escrow accounts is contributing to an orderly shutdown. How long will it take until the government’s penny finally drops that escrow is the way forward for customer financial protection? Paul Sawbridge

kina.travel Travel Counsellors Over the past two months I’ve been working from a desk at the front of the house, rather than in my office at the back. I’ve found that I like watching people walking, driving or cycling past, I can see Dartmoor in the far distance and watch the birds (that nest in our eaves) foraging in our little front garden space.
