Standing in the heart of Boston this summer, surrounded by thousands of Scotland

supporters proudly draped in tartan, I was reminded of something we’ve perhaps forgotten in our digital world: nothing brings people together quite like sport. Everywhere I looked there were conversations

Like sports fans everywhere, our goal is to create lasting memories

between strangers, songs echoing through the streets, local businesses embracing Scottish visitors and fans creating memories that will last a lifetime. For many, this wasn’t just another football tournament – it was the culmination of a 28-year wait to see Scotland return to the Fifa World Cup. There was an unmistakable sense that everyone knew they were part of something special. As Official Travel Partner

of the Scottish Football Association, Barrhead Travel Group was incredibly proud to help thousands of supporters make that journey. We weren’t simply arranging flights and hotels; we were helping our customers realise a dream they had waited decades to fulfil. Seeing that experience first-

lasting impression, strengthening relationships and showcasing the very best of our nation. That’s the power of sport. It doesn’t simply fill stadiums; it fills cities with optimism, pride and human connection.

Travelling support Of course, behind every unforgettable sporting occasion is an enormous amount of planning, and this tournament reminded us why expertise matters. Although the overwhelming majority of our customers enjoyed a seamless experience, there were isolated cases across the industry where Estas were unexpectedly revoked. Our teams stepped in immediately to support customers, find solutions and ensure as many supporters as possible could still be part of the tournament they had waited so long to experience. Those moments rarely

to grow, customers are investing in far more than

lesson through sport myself. As a British taekwondo champion at 16, I experienced the discipline, resilience and camaraderie that only sport can create. It brings together people from different backgrounds with a shared purpose, and this summer I saw that spirit on an extraordinary scale.

Sporting ambassadors The Tartan Army didn’t just support Scotland, they represented our country with warmth, humour and generosity. From Boston to Miami, cities embraced Scottish supporters, and supporters embraced them in return. Long after matches had finished, conversations continued between locals and visitors who, only hours earlier, had been complete strangers. The economic impact was significant, but

the cultural impact was far greater. Scottish fans didn’t simply visit these destinations; they left a

Scottish FA during Scotland’s World Cup campaign, but we’re equally proud to serve customers through our stores across England. Like so many businesses operating across the UK, we’ve shared in the excitement from every corner of the country. For those of us in the travel industry, it’s both

a responsibility and a privilege – we help people be part of moments that matter. Because when the final whistle blows, it’s rarely the scoreline people remember. It’s the people they met, the places they discovered and the journey they took to be there. And that’s something truly worth travelling for.
