The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Cruise: Cut discounts to earn more
Story: Cruise agency warns of 2022 price increases I’m sure that any discounts removed by cruise lines will be more than made up for by the big agencies [discounting their prices]. Perhaps if the larger agencies stopped doing this and forcing everyone else to match their lowest-common-denominator pricing, we could all make some decent income and be more suitably rewarded for our collective efforts during the pandemic. Nick Hollands, GoCruise & Travel
Reuben’s Retreat: Whole team are amazing
Story: Reuben’s Retreat founder wins ‘Amazing Women Awards’ honour This is so well deserved. All of the team at Reuben’s Retreat are amazing in the work they do in helping families. It was an honour to work with them when I was with Thomas Cook. Neil Bilsborough
Miles Morgan @MMTMan Compared departures today from @CardiffAirport and @BristolAirport: Cardiff 5, Bristol 61. So sad to see the decline at Cardiff. When is @fmwales Mark Drakeford going to learn to live with the virus?
Red list: Advice must align
Story: Red list cut projected as simplified overseas travel system introduced Andrew Earle: Let’s hope that the countries coming off the red list are going to change their statuses to allow us in. And then, that our government matches up so we don’t have “all but essential travel“ preventing package deals going ahead.

Australia: Reopening of NSW is good start
Story: Australia set to lift international travel ban early Great news about Australia opening up to international travellers, albeit with baby steps. New South Wales will be first, welcoming back expats who can quarantine for a week at home so some big family reunions will take place. The other states will see how it works out in NSW and will come on board when they consider it safe to do so. At least this is a step in the right direction as regards Australia at last. Patrick Doyle
Julia Lo Bue-Said @jlo_said Ahead of this week’s travel review let’s be clear about one thing: no high-priority variants of concern have been found among travellers since June. They’ve never ever found a very high-priority variant.
Taste of Pata: Prizes galore
PATA UK & Ireland More than 40 prizes worth thousands of pounds were won by members of the travel trade at Pacific Asia Travel Association’s first restart live event, Taste of Pata, held in association with Travel Uni in London on September 15.
