Story: YouGov poll suggests no boom in overseas sales Absolute tosh. We have taken more bookings for Spain in the last two days than we have in the whole period since October last year. Makes you wonder where the 5,000 adults in this sample come from. rachel08

Packages: Sales shift

Comment: Agents will shun dynamic packaging in favour of integrated operators Matthew Ruth: I completely agree. Before all this, 10% of my sales were DP; now, I won’t DP again until next year at the earliest.

Fake claims: Well done, Jet2

Story: Jet2holidays wins another case against fake holiday sickness claimants Daryl Gomm: This should show people fraudulent claims like these are illegal and you will get caught!

The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Vaccine: Fast-track passports

Story: Health officials warn against rush to vaccine certificates The time has come for politicians to re-evaluate the overall risk and adopt a coherent plan for the whole economy rather than merely second-guessing the following day’s tabloid headlines. That means opening up faster than currently envisaged and fast-tracking a system of vaccination passports. Otherwise, the death toll from poverty and deprivation in tourism- dependent economies could challenge the death toll directly attributable to Covid-19. Paul Sawbridge

Poll: Our bookings have surged Refunds: Is trade ready again?

Story: Some travel firms have ‘screwed over’ the industry, says Jet2 boss

I think the biggest concern the industry should have now is the potential for travel firms to do exactly what Heapy says – use customer funds as loans to help bridge the gap. This rush to booking has been seen as an amazing return to some sort of normality but, as yet, there is no certainty that all holidays will be able to progress. I fervently hope every firm is ready and able to refund customers quickly and efficiently if things don’t go the way we hope. Paul Bondsfield

Taskforce: Shapps is no Monty

Analysis: What will be the focus of the new taskforce? When I see the word ‘taskforce’, I think of Lewis Collins in Who Dares Wins or Field Marshal Montgomery going into battle with a shrewd plan. So I was a little disappointed to see Grant Shapps playing the lead. Still, fingers crossed... Owecas
